Innovation TitleFinger millet inbred variety Kambulanje for cultivation in low to mid-altitudes in Malawi and Uganda
Innovation description Kambulanje was selected from a regional kit shared by ICRISAT-Nairobi and evaluated by releasing partners in Malawi under the AVISA Project. Its yield estimates range from 2-2.5 mt/ha, and is noted for biotics stress resistance, and abiotic stress tolerance, with dietary value being high in Calcium, Iron and Protein. It is a green colored plant with erect and medium height, and responses well to fertilizer. This variety will potentially contribute to SDG`s 1,2,3,5,10,12,12 and 17.
