General information

Innovation ID653

Innovation TitleWomen as model farmers and change agents; effective integration into the development of climate-smart bean technologies and information in Rwanda
Innovation description Women farmers participate in trainings on climate information services to better manage their farms, in addition to receiving new climate-smart, high-iron bean varieties to plant. Digital innovation is also seen as a good way forward for smallholder bean farmers to access real-time information to connect producers to markets, understand transactions in bean corridors to inform trade policies and respond to dynamics among bean value chain actors. This empowerment balances their role with men in households.
