Innovation TitleSmart-dart: diagnostic kit, for field detection of bacteria and phytoplasma pathogens in cassava
Innovation description Smart-dart is based on isothermal amplification (a.k.a. LAMP) but incorporates the use of a fluorescent marker and a real-time reading of the results through portable devices like smartphone or tablets. The method has been standardize for bacteria and phytoplasma pathogens and is currently also being tested for detection of DNA viruses.
