  Activity/Product Description
    
(1) To develop an up-to-day scientific, analysis-strong, yet handful framework for researching transitions of agricultural livelihood systems (ALS) in coping with the social-ecological complexity context and other grand challenges in dryland development. This serves as basis for framing research processes/activities targeting the later objectives. (2) To formulate an global network, across flagship regions and across partner centers, for drylands' integrated systems research being accountable, functioning towards CRP-DS's IDOs and SLO. (3) To improve systemic understandings and identify systemic intervention strategies to obtain the four CRP-DS's thematic targets through a spectrum of demonstrative case studies on integrated systems analysis and modelling across CRP-DS's Flagships. (4) To provide frameworks, meta-data and guides for Flagships' development of (i) context-SLM option and (ii) context-system tool option matrices (5) To build research and educational capacities on integrated system research in CRP-DS's partners (CGIAR centers, NARS, national university) and improve their integration into other related international research communities.
