OUR IMPACT

Objectives

Enhance farmer knowledge and support sustainable intensification (SI) pathways for productivity gains in maize-legume diversified systems, that also integrates livestock-related enterprises such as improved fodder for intensified dairy production. Set up a research approach that systematically assesses SI best-bet options that appropriately respond to the needs of resource-poor farmers - particularly female headed households.

Problems and Needs Analysis

Wide gaps between potential and current crop yields that can be rectified through improved soil and land management options.

Intervention Strategy(ies)

Improve grain-legume productivity through mother-baby trial action research Introduce and test soil health improvement technologies Livestock integration and intensification.
