50- minutes FAP film now synchronized to Turkish

Dr. Yasemin Güler, from Directorate of the Turkish Plant Protection Central Research Institute (CRIPP) and an authority on wild pollinators of Turkey, translated the script and organized the synchronization of the film to Turkish to make it available to more farmers, extension experts, NARS and policymakers. Dr. Güler is the national focal point of the IKI-FAP project in Turkey.

Within ex-ante assessments among farmers, the IKI team from Turkey recognized a widespread lack of knowledge on pollinators and pollination also in Turkey.
The film had been developed about two years ago in Morocco with participation of various farmers, a beekeeper, national and international researchers, extension services and the Moroccan focal point for the Convention on Biological Diversity. Farming with Alternative Pollinators (FAP) is a scalable approach for pollinator protection and simultaneously for sustainable intensification. It creates many cross-cutting benefits. The film shows low-cost options for pollinator protection and is in particular valuable for countries which already joined the Coalition of the willing on pollinators or which develop a national strategy and action plan for pollinator protection – and of course for everybody who wants to contribute to safeguarding these important species.
Although the Turkish version of the film was released only several days ago, it has been viewed already more than 400 times. Some of the agricultural engineers who watched the video contacted Dr. Güler to engage themselves in establishing FAP areas in their own province. This is a promising development for the protection of pollinators in Turkey, the country with the highest pollinator diversity around the Mediterranean Sea.
