Annual meeting 2018 and BPP workshop
La 5th edition of the IAVAO annual meeting wal held from 18th to 20th November 2018 in CERAAS, Thiès, Senegal
The IAVAO network and the GLDC-CRP are both working on defining breeding product profile (BPPs) for the main agro-systems in East and West Africa. The two communities proposed to convene during the IAVAO annual meeting for a workshop on sorghum and peanut breeding product profiles for West and East Africa. During the workshop, participants explored what are the current definitions of the BPP concept as well as the methods and tools that are proposed to establish them. The participants discussed the adequacy of these models in regard of specificities and constraints of these two crops in the target countries.
Objectives
- Present/define/discuss/question the concept of BPP to reach a common understanding
- Elaborate a method (protocol, template and questionnaire ) as well as a roadmap for delivering BPPs for peanut and sorghum in target countries
- Start defining draft BPPs with workshop participants.
- Identify gaps both in the method and in the actors that need to be engaged in the process
