  Activity/Product Description

(1) Identified country-specific high-yielding pearl millet hybrids. Standardized country-specific seed-production systems. (2) Developed at least 5 A-/B- pairs and 20 restorer parents with high forage potential. Identified at least 5 high biomass populations and hybrids for biofuel purpose. Identified at least 5 high biomass populations and hybrids for forage purpose. Assembled association mapping panel and mapped high biomass and biofuel-related traits. (1) Hybrids available to NARS and private sector (country-wise) for up-scaling in ESA region. (2) Breeders will develop hybrids to increase crop-livestock efficiency of farms. Farmers have option of using pearl millet as biofuel crop.
