  Activity/Product Description

(1) Early generation hybrid parents with high grain Fe content available in diverse agronomically superior backgrounds. (2) Status of forage quality traits is available for current public and private bred cultivars. Forage quality status of hybrid parental lines is known. Information on genetic effects and stability of forage quality traits is available. (1) Pearl millet breeding programs have access to biofortified hybrid parents to develop hybrids rich in grain Fe and Zn content. (2) Breeders will develop hybrids to increase crop-livestock efficiency of farms.
