Significant advances in the policy dialogue on land-use reform to further assist the Government of Myanmar implement its Agriculture Development strategy

Significant advances of the policy dialogue from the "Nay Pyi Taw Agreement " (2018) allow to further expand the transformation of land to water for fish culture under integrated agriculture.

Significant advances have been made in terms of the policy dialogue from the "Nay Pyi Taw Agreement" stage to assisting the Government of Myanmar implement its ADS, with  two major strategic shifts being taken:

1) Decentralized State/Regional Governments agreeing to the promotion of integrated agriculture by transforming up to 15% of rice-paddy to water for fish; and

2) Parlimentarians at the Union (national) level agreeing (and recommending to Cabinet) that up to 30% of a smallholder (<15acres) land holding can be converted to water for fish culture under integrated agriculture systems without requesting special permission to do so.
