  Activity/Product Description
    
Characterize sorghum and finger millet germplasm collected with NARS partners from Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya with the aim of discovering novel traits for incorporation to the breeding program; and to acquire biophysical data to accompany the germplasm to the gene bank. ICRISAT together with TPRI and DRD from Tanzania, NaSARRI from Uganda and the Kenya gene bank undertook a germplasm collection mission to fill gaps in 2016. Germplasm in the medium term storage in Nairobi requires regeneration after every 5 years and Unique accessions in Nairobi need to be duplicated in Patancheru genebank.
